"The Perfect Tweet"

Twitter has been and is one of the most extensive social media networks globally. With 52% of their over 300 million users being on every day, there is a very high ceiling for marketing on Twitter. How should marketers and brands use Twitter though? 

To learn how to utilize Twitter best, you must first thoroughly understand Twitter. Twitter can be seen as one of the easiest ways to spark a conversation on social media. Twitter was created for people to be as expressive as they please (within a 240 character limit). Going about Twitter as just a tool for conversation is the best way to succeed with your tweets. 

Twitter can also be seen as the quickest way to give simple updates about life, a business, or a brand. Using Twitter to announce events, sales, or just how your day was has shown to have success! 

Twitter has a webpage that gives many tips on what should be done to build the “Perfect Tweet.” Some of the tips they offer are: 

  • Limit 1 to 2 hashtags for a tweet

  • Be short and sweet- get to the point quickly 

  • Get to your point in a conversational manner- invite responses 

  • Use media to boost posts- images, videos, GIFs, or the Twitter tools given to you 

These tips are helpful for any person to attempt to build a “successful” tweet. But what about tweets used to spread brand awareness or market a business?

One of the best ways to successfully market your brand or business on Twitter is to create a strategy specific to Twitter. This curated strategy should implement the tips given above but should also have goals that your brand/business can reach (i.e., follower number, tweet engagement increase, amount of likes, etc.). 

Your strategy should then be suited for your business/brand and yours only- meaning it needs to be genuine and original! 

Many businesses are out just copying what has been done with little to no success. Be original and find what resonates with your followers. 

Use the Twitter tools! Twitter has many tools that allow account owners to check how well different posts do. These tools are referred to as analytics. A business or brand should use analytics to see how well various posts are doing over time. The tweets that do the best are the ones that resonate the most with that specific audience. The format or topic of those Tweets that do well should be used again to keep the high affinity going!
